His music laid at the heart of numerous theatrical shows that have been performed in some of the great European theaters.
For nearly a decade Gabriel Cazes has worked closely together with Icelandic director Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson. Their collaboration and synergy has led to many great and celebrated works and have won several awards, including ‘Best Foreign Play’ (Erbil, Irak) 2006 and ‘Best Staging of the Year’ (Germany, 2017).
Their work include an adaption of Bertolt Brecht’s ‘Mutter Courage’, an adaptation of Molière’s famous comedy ‘Tartuffe’, ’Die Edda’, inspired by the great Nordic sagas. And in that same year they also worked together on the highly-rated play ‘An Odyssey’. Their work also includes many adaptations of William Shakespeare, including ‘King Lear’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Hamlet’,’Macbeth’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.
Many of the stage performances are carried by a strong amalgamation of sounds, using unexpected items as musicals resources. Gabriel Cazes possesses the ability not only to draw out the best musical performances from his talent on stage, as the conductor, he creates a unique symphonic world.
Besides his theatrical career, Gabriel is also the frontman of the rock band We-Are-Z which he founded together with bass player Marc Arciero. Their debut album Animal was released in 2017. After the release of their debut album they toured in England, France and Russia.
Gabriel Cazes has lived, worked and recorded in NY, Los Angeles, Montreal, Barcelona and Berlin and currently lives with his family in Paris, France.
